"Arlington Renegades crowned XFL champions after defeating D.C. Defenders"
The Arlington Renegades, led by Valley natives Bob Stoops and De’Veon Smith, won the XFL championship with a 35-26 victory over the DC Defenders. Former Howland standout De'Veon Smith had 15 carries for 54 yards and a two-point conversion reception, while Arlington quarterback Luis Perez threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns. This was the first full season for the XFL since 2001.
