Minnesota man charged with deadly crash and federal drug and gun charges
Bail has been set at $1 million for Derrick John Thompson, who has been charged with five counts of criminal vehicular homicide for causing a crash that killed five young women in Minneapolis last week. Prosecutors allege Thompson was driving 95 miles per hour when he exited Interstate 35W onto Lake Street, ran a red light, and broadsided the car with the young women. Thompson is also facing federal charges for illegal possession of a firearm and fentanyl. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 21.
