Charter Communications has provided an update on its contract negotiation dispute with The Walt Disney Company, expressing disappointment with the current video ecosystem and unsustainable price hikes. Charter has proposed a model that aims to create better alignment for the industry and better products for customers, including lower penetration minimums, inclusion of ad-supported DTC apps within packaged linear products, and marketing of DTC products to broadband-only customers. However, The Walt Disney Company has declined a contract extension. Charter believes that the industry must evolve and is open to collaborating with Disney, but is prepared to explore other models if necessary.
