Thrift Store Vase Purchased for $3.99 Sells for Over $100,000 at Auction
A woman in Virginia purchased a vase for $3.99 at a charity shop and later sold it at auction for $107,100. After discovering a small "M" on the bottom of the vase, she suspected it could be a valuable piece from Murano, Italy. Further research revealed it was a rare artwork by renowned Italian architect Carlo Scarpa. The vase, part of the "Pennellate" series, was auctioned to a private art collector in Europe. The woman received $83,500 from the sale and expressed her desire to bring the vase back into the art world.
