Russian Government Takes Action Against POLITICO Reporter

Eva Hartog, a reporter for POLITICO Europe, has been expelled from Russia after her visa was not extended. This is the first known case of a foreign journalist being kicked out of Russia since the country escalated hostilities in Ukraine. The Russian government has been cracking down on critics and independent journalists, with opposition leader Alexei Navalny imprisoned and many journalists fleeing the country due to new censorship laws. Hartog's departure does not diminish POLITICO's commitment to covering Russian politics and the war in Ukraine.
