Ex-British Soldier Convicted of Spying for Iran After Jailbreak

Daniel Khalife, a former British soldier, has been convicted of spying for Iran after escaping from a London prison last year. Despite his claims of acting as a double agent for British security, prosecutors described his actions as a "cynical game." Khalife contacted an Iranian middle-man, offering to remain undercover in the British Army, and passed on both fake and genuine documents, including sensitive information about special forces soldiers. He received payments for his espionage activities and attempted to contact his handlers while on the run. Khalife will be sentenced next year.
