The Latest Updates on the Russia-Ukraine War: Putin Claims Halt in Ukraine's Counteroffensive.

Ukrainian forces have made progress in several sectors of eastern and southern Ukraine, according to the UK’s Ministry of Defence. However, the Russian defence ministry said that Ukraine’s forces have continued “unsuccessful” attempts to launch attacks in several regions. Canada’s minister announced C$500m worth of military aid for Kyiv and said the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam was a “direct consequence of Russia’s war”. German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, plans to speak to the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, to urge him to withdraw troops from Ukraine. The UN’s top aid official warned Ukraine’s humanitarian situation is “hugely worse” after the Kakhova dam rupture.
