Italy has introduced a digital nomad visa, allowing remote workers from non-European Union states to live and work in the country for up to a year, with the possibility of annual renewal. Applicants must meet income and tax requirements, have health insurance, suitable accommodations, and a clean criminal record. If approved, they have eight days to apply for a residence permit upon arrival in Italy and must visit an Italian consulate in their country of residence for approval. Similar programs have been launched in Portugal and Spain.
