Tourists' Selfie Obsession Leads to Venice Gondola Disaster

A group of tourists in Venice fell into a canal when their gondola capsized after they refused to sit down and stop taking selfies. The gondolier, attempting a difficult maneuver, also ended up in the water while trying to rescue the passengers. The incident, captured on video and shared online, occurred when the tourists ignored the gondolier's instructions and continued to stand and take photos, causing the boat to tip over. The tourists were eventually brought to safety and provided with assistance. Venice's gondoliers' association had previously reduced capacity on their boats due to the increased weight of tourists.
