Tragic Hiking App Mishap Claims Scientist's Life

A Russian scientist, Dr. Dmitry Fedyanin, fell to his death while hiking in Germany's Berchtesgadener Alps National Park after a navigation app allegedly led him off the path and over a cliff. The 34-year-old researcher slipped on a rocky ledge and slid down at least 492 feet. His body was found at the base of a peak, and authorities ruled out third-party involvement. Fedyanin was a decorated scientist and had been a senior research fellow at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. His death is one of several recent hiking-related fatalities in the area.
