EU Implements Stricter Regulations on Pornhub and Other Porn Sites to Ensure Greater Diligence

The European Union is imposing stricter regulations on popular adult sites Pornhub, XVideos, and Stripchat, designating them as "Very Large Online Platforms" (VLOPs) due to their high traffic. The sites will be required to conduct more diligent content moderation, protect minors, and increase transparency and accountability. They must also work to stop the spread of illegal content and undergo external audits while producing transparency reports. Pornhub disputed the EU's claim of having over 45 million monthly active users. Other mainstream sites like Facebook, Google, and TikTok have also been designated as VLOPs. The EU is investigating X for potential breaches of its obligations under the Digital Services Act. Amazon and Zalando have previously appealed the VLOP designation.
