DroneHammer: Germany’s Budget Anti-Drone Missile Debuts

Skylance’s DroneHammer is a low-cost, laser-guided anti-drone missile unveiled in Nuremberg. Each unit costs about €2,500, weighs under 1 kg, and has up to a 2,000 m range. The two-stage system uses an onboard camera to lock on, then an external laser pointer to trigger a controlled attack that releases a shrapnel cloud metres from the drone, minimizing collateral damage. Multiple shots can be fired in different directions. The launch coincides with Germany pushing Aviation Security Act reforms to empower the Bundeswehr and police to shoot down drones in critical situations, expanding state defense capabilities near airports and infrastructure.
