Pope Francis misses Good Friday events due to illness and cold weather.

Pope Francis will not attend the traditional Good Friday Way of the Cross procession at the Colosseum due to unseasonably cold nighttime temperatures in Rome, but instead will watch it from his home at the Vatican. The 86-year-old pope, who was recently hospitalized, used a wheelchair to preside over an early evening prayer service at St. Peter's Basilica to mark Good Friday. Francis is expected to preside at an Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday night in the basilica and deliver a long speech on Sunday in St. Peter's Square.
