"Key Discussion Questions for October Synod on Synodality Outlined"

The Vatican has released a 50-page document, called the Instrumentum Laboris, outlining key questions for the upcoming 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, which will focus on Pope Francis' vision of a more inclusive, decentralized, and "listening" Church. The document covers hot-button topics such as women deacons, priestly celibacy, and LGBTQ outreach, and highlights a desire for new institutional bodies to allow for greater participation in decision-making by the "People of God." The assembly will bring together Catholic bishops, priests, religious, and laypeople from around the world to discuss and prepare another document.
