"Deadly Clashes and Ultimatums: Unrest in Manipur's Kuki-Dominated District"

The Deputy Commissioner of Manipur's Churachandpur district has refused to leave despite an ultimatum from a Kuki outfit, following violence sparked by the suspension of a Kuki head constable. The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum has blamed the Superintendent of Police and the Deputy Commissioner for the incident, demanding their withdrawal and replacement with Union Territory cadre officers from the Kuki-Zo community. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the responsibility to protect the public and stated that decisions will be made based on the situation, while the Superintendent of Police could not be reached for comment.
