Lauren Burgess ended her decade-long, happy marriage after realizing she was a lesbian during a two-week solo camping trip. She and her husband rarely had sex, and despite attempts to reboot their sex life and marriage, they went to couples therapy. After coming out to her husband and therapist, Burgess realized she had been committed to a specific vision of her life that was ingrained in heteronormativity. She loved her husband and life, but it wasn't hers.
