Italian police seize 2 tons of cocaine floating off Sicily in record-breaking bust.

Italian police seized a record haul of two tons of cocaine found floating off the east coast of Sicily, with an estimated street value of over 400 million euros. The cocaine is suspected to have been left at sea by a cargo ship for subsequent retrieval and transportation to the mainland by a criminal organization. The drug trade in Italy and much of Europe is dominated by the 'Ndrangheta crime group, based in Calabria, on the Italian mainland near Sicily.
