Saola intensifies into super typhoon, poses threat to Taiwan

Typhoon Saola has intensified into a super typhoon and is expected to hit the southern coast of Taiwan on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning. While it is not expected to make landfall in the Philippines, eastern parts of Cagayan and Isabela provinces may experience heavy rainfall, potential flooding, and landslides. The storm has prompted the temporary suspension of sea voyages in northern parts of Quezon province. Saola is the seventh tropical cyclone to affect the Philippines this year, and it has enhanced the Southwest Monsoon, bringing monsoon rains to other parts of the country.
