Massive Portugal Wildfire Forces Evacuation of Over 1000 People

A wildfire in southern Portugal has forced the evacuation of around 1,400 people and destroyed approximately 6,700 hectares of land. Over 850 firefighters and six water-bombing planes are currently battling the blaze, which started in Odemira and has spread towards the popular tourist destination of Algarve. High temperatures and strong winds have hindered firefighting efforts, and weather conditions are expected to remain challenging. The situation is described as critical, difficult, and complex, with several villages, tourist accommodations, and a camping site being evacuated as a precaution.
