"Mass Evacuations as Forest Fire Ravages La Palma Island in Spain"

A forest fire in the Spanish island of La Palma has forced the evacuation of at least 2,000 people as Europe experiences a heatwave. The fire, which started in the early hours of Saturday morning, has destroyed at least 12 houses and affected around 4,500 hectares of land. The Spanish army has deployed 150 firefighters to assist local crews, and additional support is arriving from the neighboring island of Tenerife. This is the first natural crisis on the island since a volcanic eruption in September 2021.
