Mass Evacuation as Wildfire Engulfs Greek Island of Rhodes

A wildfire on the Greek island of Rhodes has forced hundreds of people, including tourists, to evacuate affected villages and beaches. Coastguard vessels and private boats have evacuated at least 2,000 people. Firefighters, supported by air water bombers and reinforcements from Slovakia, are struggling to contain the wildfire, which has been burning for five days and is being fueled by strong winds. The fire has damaged three hotels and civil protection authorities have warned of a high risk of wildfires in Rhodes and other areas in Greece due to the ongoing heatwave.
