US and Philippines successfully test Patriot missile system in joint military exercise.

The U.S. Army's Patriot missile-defense system has successfully intercepted two Kratos MQM-178 Firejet target missiles flying over the West Philippine Sea, marking the first time the weapon has been fired in the Philippines. The launchers were operated by soldiers from the Okinawa-based 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery Battalion, and the event was part of the annual Balikatan exercise between the United States and the Philippines. The exercise also included the use of the Avenger Air Defense System to bring down two MQM-170 Outlaw unmanned aircraft.
