The Ukrainian military has undergone intensive training in the use of combined arms, and air defence systems have been effective in defending the capital, Kyiv. The coming weeks are likely to see a bloody counteroffensive as Ukraine aims to take back territory Russia took from it in the opening weeks of the invasion in 2022.
