Russia Deploys Troops to Replace Mercenaries in Ukraine Conflict

Russian airborne forces and motorised infantry units are being deployed to Bakhmut to replace the Wagner Group fighters who have suffered significant losses. The Russian units have been taking part in hostilities since 24 February 2022 and have sustained significant losses. The Wagner Group mercenaries are being withdrawn from the city of Bakhmut and their positions are being handed over to the regular Russian army.
