Navy ousts Truxtun commander after replenishment-at-sea collision

Cmdr. James Koffi, the commander of the destroyer USS Truxtun, was relieved due to loss of confidence after Truxtun collided with the oiler USNS Supply during a replenishment at sea in SOUTHCOM’s area. Koffi was reassigned to Naval Surface Group Middle Atlantic, and Cmdr Taylor Auclair was named acting commanding officer. Truxtun is in port in Puerto Rico supporting SOUTHCOM, while two sailors reported minor injuries and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
