India has sent two warships to participate in the first Asean-India Maritime Exercise, with an aim to strengthen military ties with the South East Asian nations and counter China's growing influence in the region. The exercise will be held in Singapore and the South China Sea, where China is involved in territorial disputes with its neighbours.
