Declassified Heroic Story of Retired Navy Capt. Royce Williams

Retired Navy Capt. E. Royce Williams engaged in one of the toughest airborne battles in the Korean War, taking down at least five Soviet MiG-15s during a 35-minute dogfight. The events were classified as top secret for nearly 65 years, but were declassified in 2017. Rep. Darrell Issa is working to get Williams recognized for his accomplishments and awarded the Medal of Honor. Williams hopes to inspire young people to join the military and was recently honored by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol with the Taegeuk Order of Military Merit.
