China proposes enhanced military partnership with Vietnam.

China's Defence Minister Li Shangfu has expressed willingness to strengthen military cooperation with Vietnam, citing the chaotic international situation and security challenges in the Asia-Pacific region. The meeting comes after the USS Ronald Reagan made a stop in the Vietnamese port of Danang, amid tension between China and the US in the South China Sea. Li has recently met with military officials from South Africa and Thailand, but not with US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin.
