Ukrainian General Syrsky Acknowledges Command Failures in Donetsk Offensive

Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky acknowledged "miscalculations" by individual commanders in the Avdiivka sector, where Russian assault units are attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses and seize control of settlements. Syrsky outlined his primary tasks, including effective utilization of combat capabilities, destruction of Russian artillery and armored vehicles, and maintenance of occupied positions. Analysts predict that Russian forces may target settlements west and northwest of the city in the coming weeks, but the terrain and water bodies in the area are likely to impede their advance. The recent change in command was dismissed as a conflict between former Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny and President Volodymyr Zelensky by Ukraine’s military intelligence head, Kyrylo Budanov.
