Rising Sea Robberies Spark Concern in Singapore Strait

ReCAAP, a monitoring and reporting organization based in Singapore, has issued a warning about the increasing number of robberies aboard ships in the Singapore Strait. In the past three days alone, four incidents have been reported, with a significant rise in incidents compared to 2022. Most of the incidents involve theft, but ReCAAP emphasizes the heightened danger in the region. Ships are advised to maintain vigilance, especially during nighttime transits. The increase in piracy in the Singapore Strait contrasts with the overall decrease in global piracy levels, although there has been a slight uptick in incidents off West Africa and the Gulf of Guinea.
