Russian Media Publisher, Blogger, and Scientist Sentenced to Prison for Controversial Comments and Treason

Russian media publisher Ilya Krasilshchik has been sentenced to eight years in prison in absentia for criticizing Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He was charged with spreading fake news about the Russian military and sentenced by Moscow's Basmanny District Court. Krasilshchik, who left Russia after the invasion, has been banned from administering websites for four years. He responded to the sentence on Twitter, stating that he will now have four years of excuses for not answering messages.
