Ukraine Engages in Heavy Fighting to Retake Andriivka Village

Ukraine's deputy defense minister, Ganna Malyar, backtracked on her earlier announcement that the village of Andriivka had been retaken by Ukrainian forces, after soldiers on the ground reported ongoing heavy fighting in the area. Malyar blamed the miscommunication on a "communication breakdown" and clarified that there was some success in Andriivka, but fighting was still underway. Bakhmut, a town captured by Russian forces in May, has seen Ukrainian forces gradually pushing back, with Andriivka located around 14 kilometers south of Bakhmut.
