Russia incentivizes troops to destroy Western tanks in Ukraine

Russian soldiers who destroy US-made military vehicles in Ukraine will receive cash bonuses ranging from $600 to $1,200, while pilots who take out Ukrainian helicopters or planes will receive $3,600. The bonuses are part of a larger reward program for more than 10,000 Russian troops after the country's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The plan has been plagued by corruption schemes, and a British intelligence update said a senior Russian general was "almost certainly killed" in a Ukrainian missile strike earlier this week. Ukrainian President Zelensky said its counteroffensive is going as planned.
