An investigation by independent news outlets Mediazona and Meduza has estimated that at least 47,000 Russian troops have been killed in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, based on data from Russia's national probate registry and state statistics agency. The report suggests that the actual number of casualties could be between 40,000 and 55,000. A separate tally compiled by Mediazona and the BBC lists 26,800 confirmed Russian troop deaths, while leaked Western intelligence documents suggest a figure closer to 110,000 wounded and killed. Overall losses, including wounded and missing soldiers, are estimated to be around 125,000.
