Indian Navy's Dramatic Confrontation with Somali Pirates

The Indian navy intercepted a hijacked bulk carrier off the coast of Somalia and demanded the pirates surrender, releasing footage of the pirates opening fire on its warship. The vessel, Ruen, remains under the control of the hijackers with around 18 crew members aboard, and there are concerns it could be used as a "mothership" for further attacks. This reemergence of Somali piracy coincides with Houthi rebels from Yemen targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea, disrupting traffic headed for the Suez Canal.
