"India Uncovers Trafficking Racket Sending Citizens to Fight for Russia in Ukraine"

Indian authorities have detained members of a "trafficking" network that sent citizens to fight for the Russian army in Ukraine, with at least two Indian citizens killed in the war. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids and detained suspects, uncovering around 35 instances of Indians being sent to Russia. The network lured recruits through social media and local contacts, promising highly paid jobs in Russia, but they were trained for combat roles and deployed to the Ukraine war zone against their wishes. India's Foreign Ministry is working to secure the release of around 20 Indian nationals "stuck" in the Russian army, while India, a longstanding ally of Russia, has refrained from explicitly condemning Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
