The foreign-born population in the US has reached a record high of 49.5 million people, accounting for around 15% of the total population. A study by the Center for Immigration Studies attributes this increase to migrants entering the country during the current border crisis, with an estimated 4.5 million people crossing the border since President Biden's inauguration. The study suggests that more than half of this increase is due to new illegal immigration. If immigration continues at the current pace, the foreign-born population could reach 59 million, or 17.3% of the population, by the end of Biden's second term. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has bused over 70,000 migrants to sanctuary cities to highlight the impact of the crisis, with New York City receiving the largest number of immigrants.
