Surviving Auschwitz: A Personal Account.

Ginger Lane, a Holocaust survivor, recalls how her Christian neighbors, Arthur and Paula Schmidt, hid her and her six siblings in their fruit orchard to avoid being deported to Auschwitz. After almost two years, they returned to Berlin in the back of Schmidt’s truck just two weeks before the end of the war. The family moved from one displaced persons camp to the next until they were finally able to secure passage to America. Ginger is now taking part in a campaign to preserve the stories of the Holocaust this Holocaust Remembrance Day.
