"Principal Fired for Coffee Theft"

A junior high school principal in Japan was fired after being caught pouring himself larger coffees than he paid for at a convenience store during his lunch breaks. The 59-year-old principal admitted to dispensing $1.25 coffees while paying for $0.75 cups, and was caught after doing so seven times throughout the year. He apologized for setting a poor example and encouraging indiscipline, and while local prosecutors decided not to press charges, the principal faced disciplinary dismissal from the Board of Education. This incident echoes a similar case in Kumamoto city in January 2021.
