Chinese University Ditches English Requirements, Duolingo Offers English Course

Xian Jiaotong University in China has become the first elite university to remove the English language test requirement for admission and graduation. The university stated that this change is a normal measure based on current developments, but college-level English courses will still be taught. While the importance of English in China's education system remains, some experts believe that students may become less motivated to learn the language. However, many companies and universities still value English proficiency, and there is a need for reform in college-level English exams to better meet students' educational and career needs.
