Israel opens embassy near Iran border in Turkmenistan.

Israel's Foreign Minister Eli Cohen inaugurated a new embassy in Turkmenistan, located just 10 miles from the border with Iran. The two countries established diplomatic ties in 1993, and Turkmenistan's leader has expressed interest in opening an embassy in Israel. The new embassy will be Israel's closest official mission to Iran, which has close diplomatic and trade ties with Turkmenistan. Cohen also met with members of Turkmenistan's Jewish community during his visit.
