Advancing Bilateral Relations: Holy See and Viet Nam

The Holy See and Viet Nam have reached a definitive agreement for the Vatican to have a Resident Papal Representative in Hanoi, as announced in a joint statement. Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong visited the Vatican and had a private audience with Pope Francis, expressing appreciation for the progress in relations between the two parties. The Resident Papal Representative will support the Vietnamese Catholic community and serve as a bridge to advance relations between Viet Nam and the Holy See.
