Police motorcyclist faces criminal charges over fatal royal escort crash.

A criminal investigation has been launched into the death of an 81-year-old woman who was hit by a police motorbike escorting the Duchess of Edinburgh in Earl's Court, west London, on 10 May. The constable riding the vehicle is being investigated for offences including causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving, and potential gross misconduct. The officer is currently on restricted duties. The Independent Office for Police Conduct will decide whether to refer the case for potential charges. Buckingham Palace previously said the duchess was "deeply saddened" by the woman's death.
