Nigerian Senator and Wife Jailed for Organ-Harvesting Plot in UK

Nigerian politician Ike Ekweremadu, his wife, and a doctor have been sentenced to jail by a London court for illegally trafficking a man from Lagos to the UK to harvest his kidney for their daughter's transplant. Ekweremadu was sentenced to nine years and eight months, his wife to four years and six months, and the doctor to 10 years. The proposed transplant did not go ahead as a consultant at London’s Royal Free Hospital became suspicious about the circumstances surrounding the proposed donor.
