Italian high school student injures teacher with hunting knife and brandishes toy gun in classroom.

A 16-year-old high school student in a Milan suburb attacked his teacher with a hunting knife and waved a toy gun at classmates before being apprehended by police. The teacher suffered injuries to her arm and head and was admitted to a hospital. The student was taken to a psychiatric department with self-inflicted injuries. The student had been having academic problems, and his parents had been summoned to a meeting with school authorities. The Italian education minister called for schools to be safe places and suggested introducing psychologists in schools.
