French Teens Convicted in Teacher's Beheading Trial

Six teenagers have been convicted by a French juvenile court for their involvement in the 2020 killing of teacher Samuel Paty, who was beheaded by an extremist after showing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in his class. Five of the defendants, aged between 14 and 15 at the time, were found guilty of staking out the teacher and identifying him to the attacker. Another defendant, a 13-year-old girl, was convicted of making false accusations and slanderous comments. The trial of eight adults accused of aiding in Paty's killing is expected to begin next year.
