"Former British Soldier Faces Trial for 1972 'Bloody Sunday' Killings in Northern Ireland"

A former British soldier, identified as Soldier F, will stand trial for the murder of two civil rights protesters during the 1972 "Bloody Sunday" killings in Northern Ireland. The soldier is charged with murder in the deaths of James Wray and William McKinney, as well as attempted murder of five others. An inquiry in 2010 concluded that British soldiers had unjustifiably opened fire on unarmed civilians and then lied about it. The case was initially halted but was ruled to proceed last year.
