Italian mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro, who was captured in January after 30 years on the run, is reportedly in a coma due to his advanced colon cancer. Doctors have discontinued life-sustaining measures at his request, stating that he will not recover. Messina Denaro, sentenced to life in prison for his involvement in murders and bombings, was considered Italy's most-wanted fugitive and is blamed for the 1992 car bombings that killed leading anti-mafia prosecutors Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino.
