Controversy Surrounding Atiq Ahmad and Ashraf Killings Leads to Police Suspensions and Crime Scene Recreation

Five UP cops, including an SHO, have been suspended for alleged lapses that allowed three assassins to shoot dead gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in front of TV cameras outside a Prayagraj hospital. The special investigation team (SIT) probing the murder questioned all five cops before the decision to suspend them was taken. The SIT is likely to recreate the crime scene as part of the continuing investigation.
