Bloody Sunday: Former British soldier to stand trial for half-century-old killings

A former British soldier, identified as Soldier F, will stand trial for the murder of two civil rights protesters and attempted murder of five others during the Bloody Sunday killings in Northern Ireland in 1972. The initial investigation falsely labeled the victims as IRA bombers and gunmen, but a 12-year inquiry concluded in 2010 that British soldiers had unjustifiably opened fire on unarmed civilians. The case against Soldier F was initially halted but has now been ruled to proceed by a court.
